"Other people, they're attracted to looks, or money, nice jobs, all the hollow things in this world. Other men are attracted to tits or ass, women are attracted to smiles and eyes. Your monster, my darkness, they're attracted to blood. It makes us blood men."
My latest book is Blood Men by Paul Cleave. I had never heard of this man before, but was browsing for a new book at the book store and came across this book. After reading the back of the book, I was hooked, which never happens.
The book started off slow, and kind of left me disappointed because I had been so exciting to start the book, but once it got going, it was a thrill ride until the very end.
The book is about a husband, a father: Edward Hunter. Edward, is a good man, he also happens to be related to one of the biggest serial killers in New Zealand. After being held up in a bank robbery, and losing his wife, Edward reconnects with his father, after 20 years.
Blood Men, takes place over 7 days. From the day off the robbery until the very suspenseful ending. We watch Edward struggle with the reality that he might be more like his father then he would like to admit. All throughout the book, I started to root for Edward. His character is very well written and you can't help but agree with some of his decisions. (Or maybe I'm just a little nuts?)
I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoyed thrillers, someone who enjoyed a book that is a little twisted, but not overly done so. Although there are a couple of parts in the book were the author just put way too much detail in it, the book is defiantly something worth reading. Just skip the page long descriptions.
