Now I'm not big on romance books, but Nicholas Sparks wrote A Walk to Remember, and The Notebook, both of which have turned into popular movies. I decided, that I would try one of his books, and I tried The Lucky One.
The Lucky One, is a book about a man named Logan Thibault. Thibault is a marine who did three tours in Iraq. On his first tour, he finds a photo of a woman half buried in the sand. For whatever reason he decided to find the owner of the photo, and with no luck, decides he will keep it.
Thibault, then carries the photo for five years, having an amazing amount of luck. He survives his three tours in Iraq, wins money at poker, survives an accident and much more. His friend convinces him that the photo is a luck charm and he needs to repay the woman for saving his life. That's when his journey begins.Thibault walks from Colorado to North Carolina, with just his backpack and his faithful dog.
I really enjoyed this book, I've never read a romance book written by a man, and maybe Nicholas Sparks is an exception but I almost liked it better then if it had been written by a woman. Sometimes I feel like woman, over romance stuff; they write books based on how a romance should be, or how it should be developed. Even though it seems extreme for someone to walk across the country, just to find a woman in a photo, Thibault's character isn't over-romanced. He is a simple man, with a simple misson, to find the woman who saved his live.
